Apheresis Technology / Donor programs
Understand plasmapheresis.
A clear introduction to membrane plasmapheresis, the equipment and the clinical supervision involved.
Understand the procedure
01 / What is plasmapheresis?
Separating plasma from blood cells.
Plasma is the liquid part of blood. In membrane plasmapheresis, a filter separates plasma while blood cells return through the extracorporeal circuit, according to the procedure protocol.
- 01
Before the procedure
The responsible clinical team reviews the person, the program’s requirements and the procedure protocol.
- 02
During the procedure
The equipment works with a dedicated circuit and membrane filter. The clinical team supervises the procedure.
- 03
After the procedure
Follow the instructions and follow-up arrangements given by the responsible clinical team.
02 / Donor programs
The clinical team guides the next step.
Ask about the procedure, supervision and the instructions that apply to your situation.
01Can I take part?
Eligibility is assessed by the responsible clinical team according to the program’s requirements. This website does not assess individual suitability.
02What equipment is involved?
GEMMA is a membrane plasmapheresis platform. The selected configuration includes compatible extracorporeal lines and a membrane plasma filter.
03How long does it take?
The procedure time and collected volume depend on the protocol and the person’s assessment. Ask your clinical team for the plan that applies to you.
04What should I tell the team?
Discuss your medical history, medicines and any questions before the procedure. Tell the supervising team about any symptoms during it.
